Q: How do I ask a question?
A: See the Comments form.
Q: You screwed up. I race at "so and so" track every Saturday, not Friday like you say.
A: We blew it again? Sorry. Let us know about any errors by using the Add/Changes form.
Q: Please send me info on "so and so" race at "so and so" track.
A: We'll try, but don't hold your breath. If we know, and you ask nicely, and you offer up some comments or corrections ... your odds will improve! Seriously, we try but it is hard answering all the mail AND keeping up with the tracks. Obviously, the tracks have priority. BTW, please use the Comments form for questions.
Q: How do I get my favorite track's photo on the photo page?
A: Send it to us, we'll put it up just for fun. You can snail mail it (see our address at the bottom of the Add/Changes page) or you can scan it yourself, don't edit it, compress it as a good or high quality JPEG, and email it to: RTL@chasinracin.com.
Q: Why do I always have to know the state or province to search for a track?
A: This keeps the processing requirements for searches to a minimum. We are an under-sponsored site without the revenue to support more servers for higher-powered searches. Stay Tuned or Send Money :-)
Q: Why can't I search for ALL dirt/clay or whatever tracks in a state regardless of size?
A: Again, this keeps the processing requirements for searches to a minimum. Note that if you wanted all the dirt/clay tracks in any of Texas, Iowa, California or Pennsylvania, you'd get over 40 tracks!
Q: What is gumbo?
A: A rather sticky kind of clay used on a few tracks in Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and Missouri USA.
Q: Can I print the track descriptions Race Track Locator provides?
A: Yes, but please don't copy or distribute it more than a half dozen for your pit crew. For best results, make sure your browser window is narrow enough so that the whole width will fit on a piece of paper. (Note that normally you want as wide a browser window as possible to see more data on one screen.) When travelling to a track, we suggest taking a map in addition to our directions -- we have gotten lost following some wild goose chases that different folks have provided. And besides, roads change!
Q: Where do you get your information?
A: From many sources including: direct contact with tracks, personal visits, books, help from you, TV, the web, racing magazines & newspapers, friends, racing journalists & photographers, etc. We try to confirm all information -- especially that from sources we don't know very well.
Q: Why don't you provide track mailing addresses?
A: We don't always have a good address. Most tracks don't have mail delivered directly to the track, but rather to the promoter. Promoters change and we can't always keep up with the addresses (many don't bother to keep anyone informed). We don't put them up because we feel the phone number is enough to get you in contact. Ask whoever answers the phone for the address. Our mailing list is not for sale (yet).Q: How much time has been spent on building this site? Money?
A: At least 4000 hours. We don't keep track anymore because it is too depressing. Dollars? Well, let's just say as little as possible but, for example, we have mailed letters at least once to every single track in the database. .
