Welcome! This portion of the Short-Track Racers on the Internet site covers the high-end stock-like cars racing on dirt short tracks known as Dirt Late Models. This means Hav-A-Tampa, UMP, STARS, and many other series throughout the US. Heavy in the midwest, these guys go wherever people have a dirt track and a checkered flag.

Traditionally, dirt late models were the underclass of dirt racing. Sprints always ruled. In the last 15 or so years, however, the light weight cars and close racing have brought the Late Models to the forefront of dirt racing to give the Sprints some comptetition in the popularity contest. Along the way, some very talented drivers have appeared who can make good bucks following Hav-A-Tampa, STARS and others. Guys like Scott Bloomquist, Billy Moyer and Donnie Moran. Late Model cars on dirt are more stock appearing nowadays. Fast looking in an ugly sort of way, these cars are pure race machine from top to bottom. Our Tech pages outline the technical differences between the various types of cars and sanction rules.
